Asia Young Activist Researcher Fellowship (AYARF)

A Platform for Transition and Experimentation

Seoul Metropolitan Government
Seoul Youth Hub
The Seoul Institute

The Asia Young Activist Researcher Fellowship (AYARF) is a platform for urban experimentation, where young people, citizens, businesses and city authorities work together to explore and create alternative urban futures in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2019, Dark Matter Labs and Cdot have been supporting Seoul Youth Hub, the Seoul Institute, and Korea Youth Foundation to launch the first AYARF programme.

In 2020, amidst the COVID19 pandemic, the fellowship began with its second cohort of young activist researchers. Dark Matter Labs is collaborating with AYARF to foster a problem-solving community of young people who can generate new social and urban movements across Asia with their critical and creative proposals. Fellows from over 25 countries in Asia are invited to gather in Seoul to explore new perspectives, methodologies, networks and resources in order to solve multifaceted problems faced by Asian cities in the post pandemic era.
