Radical Practice Studio

A collective call to reimagine future ways of practicing in 21st century

We live in the midst of a radical transformation in our society, and our built environment is at the heart of this transformation: from distributed manufacturing and design-as-code to automation & IoT. Yet our profession seems unfit to deal with this new reality. We argue we need a ‘boring revolution’– a revolution that understands how our invisible methods of production (regulation, contracts, data sensing, finance and accounting for multiple outcomes…) cannot be separated from the everyday practice of architecture. Instead, they must be rewoven into how we design our physical environment.

Radical Practices Studio is a collective call (for both students and the design community) to reimagine future ways of practicing in 21st century environments, by uncovering future fields of design investigation and action through the new ‘site’ of design - the full stack of factors that make up our design ecosystem.
