ReCode

ReCoding to capitalise civic goods

2020 –

Partners

The ReCode project, supported by EIT Climate-KIC, will design new investment models able to capitalise civic goods for public value. The core project aim is to demonstrate how a next generation of coding tools (e.g. smart contracts, real time sensors data, etc.) can bring about a ‘deep code’ shift in our economy, unlocking new financial, regulatory and legal instruments that preserve and enhance the public good.

Not only we believe this ‘deep code shift’ is a fundamental means to achieve just and democratic societies in the long run; more immediately, this can contribute to preserving and raising collective investment in the core civic assets - both tangible and intangible - that form the backbone of our cities and mitigate against future shared risks.

Developing proof of possibilities across five different sets of assets, we will build the case for transformative ‘civic assets business models’ that innovate the way we deploy capital for shared civic benefit.
